Nighttime Rituals

As women, we put our hair through so much during the daytime just to be presentable, for ourselves, and for our public image, but mostly for men. Men love long, beautiful, flowing hair. They want our hair to look like the celebrities they see on t.v., in music videos and in movies.

The trick to having your hair look so fabulous in the daytime is to take care of it at night. Brush it, comb it, oil it, wrap it. Whatever your nighttime hair care regimen is, we all have some sort of routine.

In order for our hair to come out soft and silky in the morning we have to tie it down at night so it doesn't get out of control. And that means going to bed looking any kind of way
And sometimes we even end up looking like this...

But I've noticed that it's not just hair. Everyone goes to bed and has some sort of nighttime regimen that they do. I usually wrap my hair, wash my face, brush my teeth, floss, and put lotion on. And nighttime rituals are good! The really help soothe the transition to sleep.

But I wonder what guys think about all of our habits and how we sometimes look crazy at night. I used to wake up early and unwrap my hair, brush my teeth, and wash my face so that I didn't have crust all in my eyes by the time he woke up. And theoretically you could do that, but that gets old and after a while you just don't care!

What do you think about rollers and night scarves to bed? Does practicality trump being "sexy"???

  1. I know when I had longer hair, I was concerned with wrapping my hair all the time, but now that I have short hair and my current style is braids, I find I'm not as concerend with wrapping it, etc.
I was on a church retreat last night where I stayed in the same house as my church's youth pastor and his wife. The next day as we were getting breakfast ready, some of the other girls and myself walked upstairs with our scarfs on our head and our youth pastor's wife said "never go to bed with a scarf on your head, your husband will not like that"... I remember looking at her like "chile, you may have that 'good hair' but most of us do not"

Needless to say, I think it depends on how comfortable you feel with or w/o a scarf on or nightime rituals.. to each its own :)

  2. That's exactly what I was talking about! LOL

A lot of people think that you have to go to bed looking perfect but I just can't do that.

Sometimes I wonder if I can be that perfect wife and go to bed looking great and wake up looking great but I just got to keep it real.

I feel like never going to bed with a scarf on your head is putting on a front and if you marry me you have to accept me, head scarf and all!

  3. I think if you go to bed with a wrap or using whatever method, it's okay if you aren't looking as attractive to a man. You don't want to wake up with busted hair after you have had it done. Women should not be that pressed on pleasing a man that he hinders you from keeping your hair together; I think you should stand your ground and say I'm comfortable with this and you would rather see this at night than to see how my hair would look in the morning if I did not wrap it. Lol!

  4. I completely agree Roberta! I accidentally went to fell asleep before wrapping my hair last night and it was looking crazy when I woke up! So if we weight the options it's better to go to bed looking crazy!! Lol They just have to deal with it or maybe they can bring back the wave caps so we can mathch!!!! LMAO
